Supporting Positive Change at Norman Manley High School
Between July 7–18, 2025, the Rotary Club of Downtown Kingston supported the Norman Manley High School's Behaviour Modification Program, a two-week initiative aimed at promoting positive behaviour change among students.
The program engaged 23 students from Grades 7 to 9 who had been exhibiting maladaptive behaviours. Without improvement, some students were at risk of being recommended for relocation by their parents or guardians.
Rotarians were proud to be the first presenters in the series of sessions.
- Rtn. Karen Coleman led a session on Interpersonal Relationships
- VP Strycen Williams facilitated a workshop on Goal Setting
Health and Wellness Day – July 23, 2025
These sessions took place following morning devotions at 8:00 AM, as regular school classes were suspended during the program.
The Club also played a vital role in the successful Health and Wellness Day hosted by Norman Manley High on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
In collaboration with National Health Fund (NHF), Kiwanis Cyber Connect, Maxfield Park Health Centre, and Dr. Francis (Consultant Dental Surgeon).
The club engaged a doctor to provide prostate screenings, continuing the Prostate Cancer Awareness Campaign launched by Immediate Past President Paul Brissett. This effort reflected the Club’s commitment to early detection and men's health advocacy in the community.
The aim of the back-to-school initiative was to equip students and community members with critical health checks and education.
